Claire Handbags

I am so excited! These bags were featured on Pink Chalk Talk one of the fabulous blogs I go to for ideas and inspiration. http://pinkchalkstudio.com/blog
When I first looked at them on the Pink Chalk Blog I knew I wanted to make them, but I was a little worried they would be difficult for a new-bee like me. The pattern is Claire Handbag by Lazy Girl Designs. You use seven different fat quarters and you end up with these awesome beauties. The only part I struggled with was making the handles of all things. My material kept rolling and bunching up and I wanted them to be perfect so after some unpicking they turned out great! I love how the front and back are different patterns and the two outer and six inner pockets! I am addicted to bags and now I want to make one for each season.  It was a great project, really easy (finished in one night), and I can think of a bunch of uses for them. My boys want one for toy bags.

Trick or Treat Door Hanger-

I found this material at my local quilt shop and it is the cutest Halloween fabric I have ever seen. The fabric is called Trick or Treat Street by Sheri Berry. I bought the panel and fabric for the backing and then just used fusible fleece for the middle. The back print is also fabulous. I am sewing around the grid of squares on the panel and then I am going to use some of the fabric from the back and some ribbon to make the hanger part for the door.

Vintage Baby Quilt #2 Hello Robots...

I did not intend to make the same quilt twice- however when I saw the Robots Vintage Baby Quilt Kit on Quilt Taffy. I had to make it for my two year old Owen. The only snag I ran into this time was trying to do the muslin top layout and gluing of the squares and then stack and spray all layers together. Big mistake. Follow the directions in the pattern!! It turned out OK, but there is a row in the middle with a little bump that drives me crazy! I still need to sew the horizontal rows and bind it. My son tries to carry it around and use it already. I need to get on it so he can use it! Quilt Taffy is a great e-bay quilting store. They have a ton of projects and a amazing blog called Taffy Talk. I am listing the link, I hope it is OK. http://quilttaffy.blogspot.com/

Projects I am working on...

This is the first Quilt I made. It is beautiful and really easy to make. My favorite part was doing the layout and picking where to put the fabric squares. It is the Vintage Baby Quilt by yoyomama desisgns. I call it Kate in Wonderland because I made it for Kate and used moda wonderland fabric. As you can see I an not quite done binding it.

Welcome to See Jill...See Jill Quilt

Hello to all! (or just me) I came up with the idea to start a blog after joining facebook. I wanted to start sharing my story of Quilting, and I did not want to do it on facebook! So I went to the show with my husband and was inspired. If people started to follow a cooking blog, why would they not follow my journey of learning to quilt! What a great way to document my creative outlet. Like in the show it may just be me and my mom following this blog at first.
